LOVE YOUR MUSIC LESSONS!

(for big or small people)

Experience:

Bill has over 30 years of experience teaching music in a variety of settings.

He has taught private piano lessons for most of his career starting as a teenager. After obtaining a Bachelor of Education degree from U.B.C., Bill taught in public schools for the North York Board of Education and West Vancouver.  He was also a private jazz piano teacher at Vancouver Island University for 25 years.

As well as teaching university level students, he has many students ages 7+. Adults too.  All levels!

Lesson Objectives:

To teach the basics of piano to individual needs (with classical, jazz, & pop repertoire, theory, technique, sight reading and history) and continue towards the mastery of these important

musical idioms.

Method:

Lessons are in your home or can be arranged online.  In-person lessons are preferred in the Vancouver, British Columbia area.

The Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) pedagogy is followed for beginners to advanced levels. Pop favorites are included for added fun. There are two recitals per year (June and December). RCMusic exams are available on request.

Festivals are optional for more performance experience.

Students require a preferably acoustic (not electric) piano.

Adults and older children with prior piano study can jump into jazz piano lessons!

"I can't believe how lucky we are to have found you!  You have brought music to our home each Tuesday, and made/inspired our kids to enjoy our piano the rest of the week!  Thank you for that joy"

-Astrid and JJ (Vancouver Piano Parents)

Tips for buying a used piano:

Here are some valuable websites to read about purchasing a used acoustic piano.

(I highly recommend acoustic over electric for beginners):
